Traditionally, Naskapi arts and crafts were entirely made of natural elements such as the land, trees, fish and most importantly from the caribou. It is truly amazing what our Naskapi ancestors were able to create with the resources that were available to them. Our ancestors prepared their own hide, sinew, needles, and other tools and materials needed. So much thought, labour and love went into everything they made.
Throughout the years, the Naskapi Nation has supported and funded many crafting workshops for community members. These workshops include learning how to make moccasins, mittens, baby swaddlers, hats and hide preparation. The most recent workshop was in November 2021 where 10 Naskapis participants learned how to weave snowshoes.
