Two of our own, Aiden-James Einish and Ashton Nikishan André Gauthier, have brought home medals from the 2026 Canada-Wide Science Fair in Edmonton.

Aiden-James earned a Gold Medal and a scholarship to the University of Manitoba for his project, “Labrador Tea Polyphenols: Surviving Digestion to Protect Proteins in Arthritis.” His work examines how compounds in plants our communities know well might help protect against the effects of arthritis.

Ashton brought home a Bronze Medal with his partner, Molly Whelan, for their project “From Forest to Brain: Tamarack Bark in Alzheimer’s Research.”

Congratulations also to Henry Grimstead, who earned a Bronze Medal for “Long, Long Ago in a Galaxy Far, Far Away,” rounding out a strong showing from the Quebec Indigenous Science Fair team in Edmonton.

A huge thank you to the chaperones and supporters who traveled with the team, and to everyone back home who has been cheering them on all week.
