Our belongings are going on display, and you are invited to come and see them. On Thursday, August 6, the Naskapi Nation is hosting an Artifact Exhibition at the Naskapi Community Center. Come see Naskapi artifacts collected by Frank Speck, learn about the museum project, and spend some time with our history.
When and where
Date: Thursday, August 6
Time: 5:30 PM
Location: Naskapi Community Center
What you will see
Naskapi artifacts collected by Frank Speck will be on display, the kind of pieces our families made, used, and carried: snowshoes, tools, work made by hands like ours. You will also be able to learn about the museum project and where it is headed.
Bring what you have
Do you have old crafts or tools sitting in your house? Bring them with you. Set them beside what is on display and compare them. Some of the best moments come from someone recognizing a stitch, a shape, or a way of doing something that has been in their family all along.
Thank you
Thanks to Julie-Louise Mameanskum for organizing this exhibition and for the work of bringing our history back into the room with us.
Come and learn our history
This is our history, and the more of us in the room, the more of it we remember together. Come by, take your time, and bring your family.
