The Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach is seeking a motivated and reliable Class 1 Truck Driver to join our Department of Public Works. This seasonal, full-time position is based in Kawawachikamach and the surrounding region, and plays a vital role in supporting our community’s infrastructure and maintenance projects.
Job Summary
As a Class 1 Truck Driver, you will operate transport trucks to haul gravel, equipment, snow, and debris. You’ll help keep our roads, worksites, and community running smoothly while following strict safety and operational procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate Class 1 transport trucks safely and efficiently
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and maintain logs
- Transport materials to and from work sites
- Secure loads and ensure compliance with weight regulations
- Assist with loading and unloading
- Follow all traffic laws and safety protocols
Requirements
- Valid Class 1 driver’s license
- Valid CSST (ASP) Health and Safety competency card
- Heavy Equipment Operator certification (asset)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in construction or municipal operations
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Proficient in English and Naskapi; French is an asset
Schedule & Salary
- 40 hours/week with possible overtime
- Salary to be determined based on the DPW Salary Scale
