The CLSC Naskapi and the Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach invite all community members to attend a community meeting on the Elder’s Home Project on February 23 at 5:00 PM at the Naskapi Community Centre.

This meeting is not only for elders. The Elder’s Home Project affects everyone in the community, from families caring for loved ones, to youth living in overcrowded homes, and future generations who will one day grow old here.

Over the past year, Phase 1 work has focused on understanding what our community needs. This has included looking at housing pressures and multigenerational living, the care needs and levels of autonomy of our elders, gaps in homecare services, and visits to eldercare facilities at other First Nations. From this work, a proposed 20-resident model has been developed, along with preliminary plans for services, staffing, and possible locations.

At this meeting, the CLSC will present the Phase 1 findings and proposed scope, and ask for community input before moving forward. Does this reflect what matters to our community? What needs to be adjusted?

Elders, youth, and adults are all encouraged to attend. This project belongs to the whole community, and your perspective matters.

To support participation, dinner will be provided.
