The Naskapi Community Boardwalk continues to draw national attention. At this year’s Gala Grands Prix du Design, Phase 1 of the boardwalk earned three major awards, including the top honour in its category.
The project was recognized with:
- Award of the Year in the Landscape and Territories category
- Grand Winner in the Rural Landscape Architecture subcategory
- Grand Winner in the Landscape + Wood subcategory
These awards represent some of the highest distinctions in Canadian landscape architecture and design. The recognition highlights the strength of the partnership between the Naskapi Nation, CCxA Architecture de paysage et design urbain, and Atmacinta.

During the ceremony, members of the CCxA team accepted the awards on behalf of the project. Photos from the event show a proud and energetic moment for the designers who helped bring the Naskapi community’s vision to life.

This is not the first time the boardwalk has been celebrated. Earlier this year, it received a National Award from the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects. Together, these honours confirm the impact and excellence of the work completed so far and reinforce the importance of continuing with Phase 2 when federal funding becomes available.

We extend our congratulations to everyone involved in planning, designing, and building the project. These recognitions belong to the whole community and reflect the care and respect that guided the work from the beginning.
