
The Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach is currently seeking a dedicated and organized individual to join our team as a full-time Elders Coordinator. This is a permanent position based out of the Wellness Center, working 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday).
This role is a meaningful opportunity to serve our Elders and help ensure the continuation of our cultural knowledge and traditions. Reporting to the Land-Based Director, the Elders Coordinator will be responsible for organizing, managing, and supporting a variety of programs and services for the Elders in our community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the Elders’ Bus Driver and bus schedule
- Work alongside the Elder’s Day Program Worker to organize gatherings, pilgrimages, and other events
- Draft proposals for activities and projects
- Promote recreation and social activities for Elders
- Translate or find interpreters for Elders when needed
- Travel as required to assist with Elders’ events and programs
- Carry out other tasks assigned by the Health Director or Director-General
Requirements:
- Minimum Secondary V education (post-secondary preferred)
- Office administration experience and proficiency with Microsoft 365
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Fluency in Naskapi is essential
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience working with Elders and in cultural or support roles is considered an asset
- Must be motivated, responsible, empathetic, and respect confidentiality
