Qualifications
The Candidate must be:
- A full-time post-secondary student;
- Be between the age of 18-30 years old;
- Be able to speak Naskapi and English;
- Be able to read and write fluently in English;
- Have experience working with children of all ages;
- Be enthusiastic and motivated;
- Be organized and able to plan and schedule activities that interest and challenge the participants, taking into consideration their age and developmental abilities;
- Be able to lead a team;
- Be able to work with children who have special needs;
- Who will work closely with the Health Coordinator and Wellness Team to provide a holistic view of wellness and health to the participants;
- Standard First Aid certification
Job Description
The successful candidate will report directly to the Training & Development Officer and the Recreation Director.
The Camp Coordinator will:
- Overseeing the Day Camp budget;
- Plan the daily and weekly activities for the Camp
- Oversee the daily camp activities;
- Serve as a role model and supervise the Assistant Camp Coordinator and Camp counselors;
- Ensure a safe environment for Camp participants;
- Work with outside resources hired throughout the Day Camp;
The coordinator will also be responsible for, but not limited to, the following;
- Ordering materials for Camp;
- Train Camp Counsellors;
- Supervise and evaluate their work;
- Attend staff meetings and provide appropriate feedback to Camp Counsellors;
- Organize camp programs and special events;
- Complete other tasks that may be assigned by Naskapi Community Center and/or Naskapi Recreation Facility Manager;
