Qualifications 

The Candidate must be: 

  • A full-time post-secondary student; 
  • Be between the age of 18-30 years old; 
  • Be able to speak Naskapi and English; 
  • Be able to read and write fluently in English; 
  • Have experience working with children of all ages; 
  • Be enthusiastic and motivated; 
  • Be organized and able to plan and schedule activities that interest and challenge the participants, taking into consideration their age and developmental abilities; 
  • Be able to lead a team; 
  • Be able to work with children who have special needs; 
  • Who will work closely with the Health Coordinator and Wellness Team to provide a holistic view of wellness and health to the participants; 
  • Standard First Aid certification

Job Description 

The successful candidate will report directly to the Training & Development Officer and the Recreation Director. 

The Camp Coordinator will:  

  • Overseeing the Day Camp budget; 
  • Plan the daily and weekly activities for the Camp 
  • Oversee the daily camp activities; 
  • Serve as a role model and supervise the Assistant Camp Coordinator and Camp counselors; 
  • Ensure a safe environment for Camp participants; 
  • Work with outside resources hired throughout the Day Camp; 

The coordinator will also be responsible for, but not limited to, the following; 

  • Ordering materials for Camp; 
  • Train Camp Counsellors; 
  • Supervise and evaluate their work; 
  • Attend staff meetings and provide appropriate feedback to Camp Counsellors; 
  • Organize camp programs and special events; 
  • Complete other tasks that may be assigned by Naskapi Community Center and/or Naskapi Recreation Facility Manager;
