REQUIREMENTS

  • 5-year experience in carpentry;
  • Hold a valid CNESST card;
  • Have good interpersonal skills;
  • Be able to work independently;
  • Extensive knowledge of construction and maintenance.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Public Works, the Housing Maintenance Carpenter will undertake duties, but not limited to the following:

  • Good carpentry;
  • Roofing and structural repairs to maintain the housing stock; Blueprint reading and material calculation
  • Maintenance and plumbing;
  • General residential inspections (roofs, sidings, decks, stairs);
  • Drywall and flooring installations;
  • Cabinet repairs;
  • Identification and remediation of mold and humidity problems;
  • Installing wooden structures. Such as roofing frames, joists, partitions, rafters, and stud work;
  • Receive training to assist with identifying hazards, defects, and the need for adjustments or repairs
  • Ensure compliance with agreed codes, legislation, and procedures, including health and safety;
  • Adhere to all organization policies and procedures, including those relating to respect for other team members, timekeeping, and flexibility;
  • Liaising with crew to discuss project details, budget, and timelines;
  • Working with management to obtain necessary material(s) while staying within the company budget;
  • Consulting other construction professionals to ensure the best possible results for the finished project;
  • Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Applications must be given to the secretary at the Nation office by April 11th, 2024, at 4:30pm. Human Resources will select the candidate in collaboration with a Department of Public Works representative.
