We need a Carpenter in Training.

40 hours a week, Monday to Friday

LOCATION

Kawawachikamach- Municipal Buildings

WAGE

Based on Salary Scale

REQUIREMENTS

  • 2-year experience in general labor or other relevant field;
  • Must hold a valid CNESST card;
  • Have good interpersonal skills;
  • Be able to work independently, as well as a part of a team;
  • Knowledge of construction and maintenance.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Public Works, the Carpenter in Training will undertake duties, but not limited to the following:

  • Receive regular training from the assigned carpenter to understand and learn the trade;
  • Aiding with all types of carpentry work, in part formation of buildings, such as stairs and windows, both internal and external;
  • As directed by the carpenter, to lift, store, and retrieve supplies. To confirm and unload deliveries;
  • Receive training to assist with identifying hazards, defects, and the need for adjustments or repairs;
  • Ensure compliance with agreed codes, legislation, and procedures, including health and safety;
  • Adhere to all organization policies and procedures, including those relating to respect for other team members, time keeping and flexibility;
  • Liaising with the crew to discuss project details, budget, and timelines;
  • Working with the Supervisor to obtain necessary material while staying within
  • budget;
  • Consulting other construction professionals to ensure the best results for final projects;
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor;

APPLICATION DEADLINE

Applications must be given to the secretary at the Nation office, by April 11th, 2024, at 4:30pm. Human Resources will do selection of the candidate, in collaboration with a representative from the Department of Public Works.

PERSONNEL POLICY

The successful candidate will subject to the Department of Public Works Personnel Policy and will have to sign and accept the tenns and conditions of employment upon hiring.
