Poster for the Nuuhchiimiiu Maaskinuw information session. At the top is the project logo: a painted road between two trees, next to the project name in Naskapi syllabics. Beside it, the words "Information Session: Exploring a Naskapi-led regional access road." Below, a hunter with a rifle on his shoulder walks into a fall forest of green spruce and golden tamarack. Text reads "Oct 21, 5 p.m. Dinner provided. Naskapi Community Center." A small photo of the Community Center sits beside the word "Livestreamed." The bottom reads "Elders, youth, adults all encouraged to attend."

The Naskapi Nation is thinking about a road. It would go through Nuchimiyuschiiy, our land. The project is called Nuuhchiimiiu Maaskinuw (ᓄᒋᒥᐅ ᒪᔅᑭᓄᐤ).

Before anything is decided, we want to know what you think. Come to the information session to learn about the project and ask any questions you have. Elders, youth, and adults are all welcome.

What you should know

  • Nothing has been decided. No road has been approved.
  • There is no route yet. Nobody has picked where a road would go.
  • You can say what you think. We want to hear what you like, what worries you, and what would need to happen first.
  • Coming does not mean you say yes. You can come to listen and ask questions. It does not mean you support a road or a mine.
