The Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach invites community members to attend a Torngat Metals Community Meeting on February 19 at 6:00 PM at the Naskapi Community Center.
This meeting is an opportunity to learn about and discuss the Pre-Development Agreement (PDA) that the Naskapi Nation signed with Torngat Metals regarding the Strange Lake rare earths project.
The PDA establishes a framework for exploration and pre-development activities and includes important protections for our homeland, Nuchimiyuschiiy. This session will focus on understanding what the agreement covers, including caribou herd protection measures, training and employment opportunities, and environmental safeguards.
Elders, youth, and adults are all encouraged to attend. This is a chance to ask questions, share your voice, and better understand what this agreement means for our community and our future.
To support participation, dinner will be provided.
