The Strange Lake Rare Earth Mining Project, proposed by Torngat Metals Ltd., is undergoing an environmental assessment by the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. This project is located 235 kilometers northeast of Schefferville, Quebec, and involves constructing an open-pit rare earth mine with a lifespan of 30 years.
What’s Happening?
The project assessment is in its planning phase, and Indigenous Peoples, including the Naskapi Nation, are invited to participate. The draft Joint Impact Statement Guidelines and Public Participation Plan are available for review.
