The Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach is now accepting applications for the position of 2026 Women’s Gathering Coordinator.

This is a 10 month position based at the Women Shelter in Kawawachikamach. The Coordinator will work directly under the Women Shelter and alongside a delegated working committee to plan, organize, and deliver a smooth and successful Women’s Gathering.

About the Role

The Women’s Gathering Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and executing all activities required for the Women’s Gathering. This role requires strong diligence, project management skills, and effective communication.

The Naskapi Nation is seeking a team player with a positive outlook who enjoys collaborating with others to support community focused initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning and delivering social, cultural, and mental wellness events in collaboration with Nation departments and other partners
  • Working with the Shelter Director and Special Project Coordinator to search for and apply for funding
  • Managing activities, materials, resources, and budgets in an effective and cost efficient manner
  • Planning and leading meetings with the working committee to identify objectives, messaging, and communications strategies
  • Preparing event plans, budgets, posters, agendas, and post event reports
  • Coordinating logistics with internal departments such as finance and communications, as well as guest speakers and vendors
  • Managing orders for merchandise, apparel, and other event related items
  • Delegating tasks and monitoring follow ups to ensure steady progress
  • Evaluating and improving processes with a focus on efficiency and culturally appropriate activities
  • Performing other related duties as required

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • High school diploma; CEGEP or college diploma considered an asset
  • Experience with administrative work; including reporting, filing, and budgeting
  • Experience in customer service and event planning or coordination
  • Fluency in English and Naskapi; spoken and written
  • Knowledge of French considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Naskapi culture and traditions considered desirable
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license

Training and support will be provided as needed.
