KAWAWACHIKAMACH; December 3; 2025 — The Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach has signed a memorandum of understanding with Flying Whales Quebec to explore new heavy lift airship technology as a tool to support major projects across Nuchimiyuschiiy; the traditional homeland of the Naskapi people.

The agreement focuses on identifying shared opportunities for low impact transportation solutions; including the potential use of the LCA60T airship for projects such as the ISHKUTAU wind development and future work throughout the territory. The partnership will also study the feasibility of a dedicated airship operations base within Nuchimiyuschiiy.

“Our territory is large; remote; and full of potential,” said Chief Louise Nattawappio. “Airships such as the LCA60T offer a practical way to carry out major projects while respecting the land. We value solutions that reduce environmental disturbance and create opportunities for training; employment; and long term economic growth. This partnership supports our Nation’s goals for responsible development.”

Deputy Chief Nathan Uniam added: “For us; it is important to work with companies that are environmentally conscious and responsible. Partnerships like this one have the potential to bring real economic benefits to our region while protecting the land we depend on.”

With the ability to transport up to sixty tons and handle large or unusually shaped cargo without building roads or heavy ground infrastructure; the LCA60T provides an option well suited to the unique geography and logistical challenges of the region. Both partners will evaluate how this technology can support long term priorities and serve community needs in a way that aligns with Naskapi values.
