
The Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach is inviting applications for the position of Women’s Gathering Coordinatorfor the 2026 Gathering. This is a ten month role beginning December 3; 2025 and based at the Women Shelter. The position offers flexible hours; including evenings; weekends; and holidays.
The Women’s Gathering is an important annual event that brings together women of all ages to strengthen social; cultural; and mental wellness. The coordinator will play a key role in helping the working committee bring this event to life by planning activities; supporting cultural programming; and ensuring everything runs smoothly from start to finish.
What the Coordinator Will Do
The coordinator will:
- Work directly with the Women Shelter and a working committee to plan; organize; and execute the Gathering
- Support social; cultural; and mental wellness events with Nation departments and collaborating partners
- Search and apply for funding alongside the Shelter Director and Special Project Coordinator
- Plan budgets; track spending; and make sure resources are used effectively
- Meet regularly with the working committee to set goals; coordinate tasks; and report on progress
- Prepare event plans; agendas; posters; and merchandise
- Delegate tasks and monitor follow ups
- Provide reports after the event
- Ensure cultural accuracy; strong communication; and a positive experience for everyone involved
Who We Are Looking For
Candidates should bring:
- A high school diploma; with CEGEP or college considered an asset
- Experience in administrative work; customer service; or event planning
- Fluency in English and Naskapi; spoken and written
- Knowledge of French is an asset
- Understanding of Naskapi culture and traditions
- Strong communication; organization; and analytical skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word; Excel; and Outlook
- A valid class five driver’s license
Training and support will be provided as needed.
