Congratulations to the New Chief and Council of Matimekush–Lac John

The Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Chief Pako Vachon on his election as the new Chief of Matimekush–Lac John, and to the newly elected and re-elected members of council: Pier-Luc André, Dan-Georges Gabriel, Donavan Ambroise, and Eloise Tremblay.

We recognize the significance of this moment for your community. After a closely contested election, we commend everyone who participated in the democratic process and contributed to a high voter turnout. A special acknowledgment goes to outgoing Chief Réal McKenzie for his 21 years of dedicated leadership and service.
