The Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach is now accepting nominations for the Housing Committee and the Hunter Support Program Committee, with elections scheduled for Friday, July 11, 2025, at the Manikin Centre from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
These elections will fill current vacancies on both committees until the end of the current term, which runs until October 31, 2025.
✍️ Nominations:
- Dates: July 9 and 10, 2025
- Time: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Where: Nation Office
- Nominees must be proposed in writing by at least three electors of the Naskapi Nation and must sign the nomination paper themselves.
🏠 Housing Committee (2 positions):
- One male and one female Naskapi beneficiary
- Must be tenants or lease guarantors of Nation housing
- Must have made uninterrupted rent payments for at least six months prior to the election
🎯 Hunter Support Program Committee (2 positions):
- Two male Naskapi beneficiaries
- Must not have been convicted of a criminal offence in the last three years
Additional Rules:
- Only one immediate family member may be elected per committee
- Elected representatives may sit on a maximum of two committees at the same time
