The Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach is currently seeking a compassionate, community-driven individual to join our team as an Elder Day Program Worker. This vital role supports our Elders by providing daytime programming that promotes their well-being, independence, and social engagement.

Position Overview
📍 Location: Naskapi Community Centre, Kawawachikamach
🕒 Schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday (some evenings and weekends required)
📅 Start Date: June 2025
💼 Wage: Based on the Naskapi Nation salary scale
🔍 Probation: Three-month probation period

Responsibilities
The Elder Day Program Worker will:

  • Organize and promote recreational and social activities for Elders
  • Provide structured day programs focused on mental and physical well-being
  • Collaborate with local resources like Naskapi Wellness and the CLSC
  • Respond professionally and confidentially to Elders in distress
  • Support other duties as assigned by the Naskapi Wellness Director

What We’re Looking For
Applicants should have:

  • A Personal Support Worker certificate or related health sciences credential
  • Valid First Aid certification (training may be provided)
  • A clean criminal record for the past two years
  • Experience and respect working with Elders
  • Fluency in Naskapi and English (French is an asset)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Physical ability to perform job duties (e.g. walking, carrying up to 50 lbs)
  • Flexibility in scheduling
