The Naskapi Nation is proud to announce that the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects has awarded our community boardwalk a 2025 National Award of Excellence.

The boardwalk was designed by landscape architect Sophie Beaudoin and her team at CCxA Architecture de paysage et design urbain. It was recognized as Medium-Scale Public Landscapes Designed by a Landscape Architect (1 to 5 hectares). This national award honours projects for their creativity, technical execution, environmental and social awareness, and meaningful connection to place.

Even though the boardwalk is still new, it’s already loved by the community. With snow still melting and slush underfoot, people are bundling up and heading out to enjoy the view. It winds along the lake and through the forest, offering a peaceful, beautiful place to walk, think, and be with the land.

This boardwalk is more than just a path—it celebrates our connection to this place. It brings us closer to nature, one another, and the stories this land holds.

Thank you to the designers who listened and responded with care, and to everyone here in the community who has made this space come alive with your footsteps and laughter.
