The Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach is pleased to announce that the Sachidun Childcare Centre is hiring a full-time Administrative Director to help lead its next chapter of growth and development.

After expanding its capacity from 29 to 63 childcare spaces, Sachidun is now looking for an experienced professional to help recruit and onboard new educators, develop strong educational programming, and support policy and process improvements. This position also plays a vital role in helping implement a self-governance agreement currently being developed by the Naskapi Nation.

📅 Start Date: Flexible
📆 Contract: One-year, with the possibility of renewal
⏰ Hours: 35 hours per week
💰 Salary: Starting at $100,000 annually + benefits (including travel and accommodations)

Responsibilities Include:

  • Overseeing filing systems, schedules, and daily administrative operations
  • Leading educational planning aligned with regulatory standards
  • Supporting infrastructure and material needs for the expanded center
  • Hiring and training new staff and improving retention
  • Ensuring compliance with Québec’s Ministère de la Famille regulations
  • Preparing and managing operational budgets
  • Supporting the implementation of the Self-Governance Agreement
  • Reporting to Sachidun’s Board of Directors

Candidate Profile:

  • Degree in Early Childhood Education, Business Administration, or 3+ years in a leadership childcare role
  • Budgeting, scheduling, and HR experience
  • Knowledge of childcare safety and development best practices
  • Strong English communication skills
  • CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Familiarity with Indigenous communities or languages (Naskapi, Innu, French) is an asset
  • Must pass a background check per the Educational Childcare Act
