Are you passionate about supporting men in need? The Naskapi Nation is looking for dedicated individuals to join our team as Men Shelter Support Workers at the Naskapi Men Shelter in Schefferville.
Positions Available: 2 male workers
Salary: $20.00 per hour
Employment Status: Dependent on funding availability
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, rotational shifts
Start Date: September 25, 2024
Location: Naskapi Men Shelter, Schefferville
Requirements:
- Experience supporting others by integrating emotional, mental, and physical health
- Experience in telephone and in-person counselling
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Capable of handling conflict and crisis situations effectively
- Willingness to work demanding and changing schedules (e.g., night, day, evening)
- Experience working with men
- Commitment to a healthy lifestyle and willingness to undergo a mandatory police check
- First Aid Training is an asset (First Aid training will be offered if needed)

Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Naskapi Men Shelter Coordinator and partake in on-the-job training
- Serve as an intake worker, registering new clients and maintaining routines and procedures
- Uphold confidentiality and high ethical standards
- Provide culturally sensitive tools for emotional and family well-being
- Lead land-based healing workshops for men in the community
- Help residents set and achieve individual goals while offering support and problem-solving
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Respond to emergencies and crises as needed
- Maintain documentation, including reports and statistics
