The Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach is looking for skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operators to join our Public Works team.
This is a seasonal, full-time position based in Kawawachikamach and the surrounding region, with a 40-hour work week and possible overtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate loaders, graders, excavators, and bulldozers for road and infrastructure maintenance
- Conduct safety inspections and routine maintenance
- Perform seasonal tasks like snow removal, grading, and drainage
- Support capital projects and maintain community access routes
- Ensure safety protocols and accurate equipment logs are followed
Requirements:
- Valid Heavy Equipment Operator certification
- Valid CSST (ASP) Health & Safety card
- Class 5 driver’s license
- Minimum 1 year of experience with heavy equipment in similar settings
- Proficiency in English and Naskapi (French is an asset)

- Comfortable working outdoors in challenging conditions
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
