The Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach will be holding its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, January 21 and Thursday, January 22, 2026. The meeting will take place at the Ka Mamunuiitananuch Cultural Site and will begin at 1:00 p.m. on both days.

This Annual General Meeting is an opportunity for community members to hear updates from leadership and departments, review financial information, and take part in discussions about the Nation’s work and priorities. The meeting will include the Auditor’s Report and the presentation of financial results for the 2024–2025 year.

Day 1; Wednesday, January 21

The first day will begin with an opening prayer and welcome, followed by the Auditor’s Report and the presentation of financial results. In the afternoon and evening, manager reports will be presented, including Housing, Department of Public Works, Governance and Administration, Environment and Culture, Economic Development and Local Training, and Jimmy Sandy Memorial School. Supper will be provided. The evening will also include a bingo break, as well as time for varia and games.

Day 2; Thursday, January 22

The second day will continue with manager reports, including Women’s Shelter, Men’s Shelter, Naskapi Police, Fire Department and Wildlife, Recreation Department, Health and Wellness, CLSC, and the Hunter Support Committee. Supper will also be provided on this day.

Please note that there will be door prizes throughout the meeting. Door prizes will be awarded separately for young adults aged 18 to 30, the general population, and Elders.

Community members are encouraged to attend, participate in discussions, and stay informed about the work being done on behalf of the Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach.
